Could you be a YMCA volunteer?

The YMCA aims to provide everyone - staff, volunteers, young people, users - with opportunities for personal development. So volunteering at the YMCA is about more than giving time and sharing skills. It gives you the chance to learn about others, build new friendships, develop new skills and confidence. And for some it's a chance to explore and express Christian faith in action.

What's the value of volunteering?

There are many reasons why people volunteer. People want to:

  • Contribute something to society
  • Make a difference in people's lives
  • Enhance their CV and job prospects
  • Get training and support
  • Make new friends and have fun
  • Build self-confidence
  • Develop skills and experience

In addition to these volunteering, can open up areas in your life which we know will lead to a sense of fulfilment and good citizenship.

The YMCA can provide all the opportunities described above. In addition, as a Christian organisation, the YMCA also provides Christians with the opportunity to put into practice what they believe about life and express their faith in action.

A valuable experience

'The YMCA is like no other organisation I have been involved with, a coming together of practical Christian ethics, delivering a cocktail of many different geographical projects, local, nationally and internationally. 'The YMCA is flexible, has many resources and had a strong documented history of knowledge and skill. We value people, respond to needs and change. may we long continue to do so.'
