Nottinghamshire YMCA has been serving its communities for 140 years. We currently run a 98-bed homeless hostel in the centre of Nottingham, a dedicated health and fitness centre, a purpose built training and development centre, two community cafes and two community centres.

To support young people and our hostel residents in their transition to long-term sustained accommodation, we own houses across Nottingham and Mansfield where they can put their life-skills into practise, and enjoy being part of a wider community. We have a dedicated Training Skills and Development Department, supporting over 3,500 people with quality employment and skills programmes both through outreach and in house delivery and deliver accredited training through OCN and City and Guilds qualifications.

In addition we have thriving Children’s and Youth services departments, which have innovative engagement projects running across the city and Nottinghamshire County. Our Childrens and Schools Services department run breakfast clubs, after school clubs, PPA support for local schools and holiday camps engaging with many hundreds of children every year.

Our youth work activities are built on two key themes – Digital Media and Outdoor Education – and encourage the development of team building skills, confidence, independent living skills, goal setting and respect for others.

Our Health & Fitness team run a variety of community-based projects, supporting those at risk of acquiring heart disease and diabetes with a 12 week programme engaging them in adopting a healthier lifestyle. They also run fun fitness sessions in the gym on Shakespeare Street for all ages (including very energetic sessions for our more senior members!)
