Youth charity YMCA is celebrating after making the finals night of an annual charity sector awards.

The organisation, which supports almost 230,000 young people across the UK, made the final six of the Third Sector Awards Brand Development category for its autumn 2014 national federation rebrand.

This rebrand, supported by agency ArthurSteenHorneAdamson, paired new messaging with a refreshed visual identity inspired by the charity’s past triangular branding and designs.

YMCA is a federation of 114 member organisations. Representatives from those member groups all fed into the rebrand exercise and, since its inception, more than 60% have taken on the new colours, designs and messages.

The eventual winner on the night was RNLI with Bristol Aero Collection Trust, YoungMinds, Children’s Society and World Cancer Research also through to the final six.

Denise Hatton, Chief Executive of YMCA England, the national council of YMCAs across England, said: “It was an honour to see YMCA nominated as a finalist in these prestigious awards.

“The rebrand was a huge piece of work for our organisation but we approached it with vigour and enthusiasm because that is what we do best at YMCA – we meet challenges head on.

“I am proud of what we have achieved to capture the best of YMCA in our new brand, messaging and designs.”

The Third Sector Awards recognises the success made by organisations and individuals over the past year within the charity sector.

Charities were invited to submit their entries earlier this year with finalists selected by a group of former Third Sector Award winners in August. Awards were handed out at a black-tie event at the Grand Connaught Rooms, London, on Thursday 24 September.
