Support & Advice

Bournemouth may be a sunny seaside town but its pockets of deprivation have a big impact on young people. A huge majority of our young people come from Boscombe which sits in the top 1% of most deprived areas in England (National Statistics, 2015). We offer a range of youth projects and youth centres to support young people making sure they have someone they can trust:

  • Chatterboxes – a youth-led project to support young people with disabilities who produce a youth-led magazine for their peers.
  • T.E.A.M – Multi-cultural peer support and youth action group who tackle issues of bullying and racism for BME young people
  • Young Citizens – Volunteering opportunities for young people hosting workshops and events in schools and the community including peer mentoring schemes as well as intergenerational work breaking down barriers between young people and the more elderly.

Family Work

YMCA Bournemouth manages two Surestart Children’s Centres and also owns Teddy’s Place Day Nursery and Teddy’s Pre-school for 2-5 year olds.

Health & Wellbeing

At the heart of the community YMCA Bournemouth provides facilities for overall heath, wellbeing and rehabilitation with The Junction Sports & Leisure Centre and Lifewise Gym & Sports Hall.

Training & Education

They also deliver employment & skills training for people in the local area from CV writing & job search to certified training courses.
