Amar is 19. Before moving to the YMCA he had been homeless on and off for three and a half years. “I had no where to go and believed that no-one cared, although every now and then a friend would let me stay. Most of the time I slept in the park or at the Gala Casino.” Amar had a friend at the YMCA and was given accommodation. “I was over the moon; it was like a dream, I felt cared about for a change, there was a point to living and my nightmares disappeared. I can’t truly explain how happy I was. The hostel is brilliant, the people here are polite and the staff here are brilliant. At times I feel as though I finally have a family again.” |
