YMCA shops

About YMCA charity shops

There are more than 100 YMCA charity shops across England and Wales. Money raised in these stores through the sale of donated goods are used to help transform the lives of the young people we work with in almost 700 communities.

Our shops sell a range of items but most will deal with second-hand retro goods, high street and designer clothing, accessories, books, CDs, DVDs, records, bric-a-brac and greetings cards. Some even sell furniture and donated white goods so, whatever you’re looking for, you’re likely to find the bargain you’d like in a YMCA store.

Most of our charity shops have a partnership agreement with their local YMCA, which allows them to directly help their local community. For example, a percentage of the funds raised in our Halifax shop go directly to The Marlborough Hall, the home of Halifax and District YMCA. This YMCA uses the hall to run family-based events including parent and toddler groups, knit and natter and exercise groups, roller skating sessions, pantomimes, live music and much more. In total, some 600 young people and adults use their services every week benefiting from the time they spend with Halifax and District YMCA.

Volunteering in our shops

Without the dedication of hundreds of volunteers, we would not be able to run our shops. If you would like to find out about volunteering opportunities, please contact your local YMCA Shop directly.
