Dannielle’s story
Dannielle was 19 years old when she came to YMCA. She was incredibly depressed due to problems at home, and when her brother was violent towards her, Dannielle realised that she could no longer stay there.
Thankfully, she contacted YMCA and we were able to provide her with somewhere to live in our supported accommodation.
With the dedicated one-to-one support of her keyworker, Dannielle is now feeling a lot more stable. She’s started to believe in herself and is seizing opportunities that come her way; she’s gone from volunteering on Reception at her YMCA, to taking on a full-time apprenticeship there.
Vulnerable young people, like Dannielle, need your support to help turn their lives around, and our apprenticeship schemes help develop the confidence and skills they need to earn money and live independently.
Please donate today and help young people, like Dannielle, take the next step towards a more positive future.
You can read more about Dannielle in our newsletter Stronger Together, where you’ll also find news from Jason and Sophie who you’ve heard about in the past year. We’ve included an update on our #IAMWHOLE campaign too so you can find out just how many people we’ve reached in our fight against the stigma associated with mental health difficulties.
All of the young people featured in Stronger Together are proof that, with the right support, vulnerable young people can overcome the darkest of situations. It’s your donations that make this possible, so please support us again today.
