The purpose of this research was to examine the available evidence and statistics on the factors and characteristics of families currently living in poverty within the UK.
Within the UK there are 3.9 million children living in poverty and this impacts every area of a young person’s development.
Few, if any other single issue, has both the immediate and log-term impacts that poverty can have on the health, education and employment prospects of an individual.
There is no one single cause or characteristic of poverty in the UK today, there are a multitude of interrelating factors that can leave families in Poverty.
This report seeks to highlight some of the most common characteristics that place families at greater risk of facing poverty during their lifetime.
