Chelsea’s story
“YMCA has been the difference between life and death.” – Chelsea
Chelsea was sexually abused by a family member when she was just six years old. This horrific trauma was at the root of her multiple and undiagnosed mental health difficulties.
Aged 15, living on the streets, and in a truly desperate state, Chelsea found YMCA. She had secure place to stay, and was given access to professional medical advice and treatment. Chelsea was finally able to begin her road to recovery.
She has come a long way since and is now working towards becoming a Mental Health Nurse so she can help people who are going through what she did.
Chelsea is now rebuilding her life, but she is just one of many young people who need vital support now. Become a Roomsponsor and give more young people a chance to turn their lives around.
